Dodge Nitro To Converge With Jeep Liberty
It looks as if Chrysler will be dropping either the Dodge Nitro or the Jeep Liberty within the next four years. However, instead of letting them go completely they will be merging the two vehicles into one. These two cars will be produced on the same platform and will use almost the same type of engines and will even be created in the same Toledo plant.
We can understand why they would want to keep the Liberty around because it is always something that they will need. However, we don’t understand why they would keep the Nitro when it would do them good to ditch it.
We assume that this convergence of duplicate vehicles is part of Chrysler’s Project Genesis plan. Under the plan, dealers will begin to offer Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles under the same roof. Other nameplates that are or should be converged include the Jeep Compass/Jeep Patriot and Dodge Durango/Chrysler Aspen, the latter of which could see themselves replaced by a new model with Jeep underpinnings.
